DCSERVER extends the standard linux server offering with extra security, application and support software. The DCLinux focus is on permitting extra functionality when interfacing to existing Windows networks and the support of enhanced remote support features.

The permanent connection to the Internet enables every deployed DCSERVER to be 24x7 monitored for connectivity performance. When problems are detected the client is contacted as advised. DCNUT performs remote diagnostics to establish if the problem is server or network related.

A unique feature of all DCSERVERS is the emergency disk which can be used to get the server online in the event of a catastrophic hard disk failure. With the server reconnected to Internet, DCNUT can run diagnostics remotely assess the problem and take immediate corrective action eg. ship a configured replacement hard disk.

Secure Internet Access : Firewall

The DCSERVER can operate as a Web server. Web Sites can be developed without size, functional or cost limitations imposed by ISP solutions. Web sites may be integrated with the database servers available on the DCSERVER.
Some clients have over 10 domains hosted on their server.
It also supports secure FTP access for each domain for uploading/downloading files.

For database drive website, DCSERVER supports PHP/ASP files with MySQL and Perl.

The DCSERVER provides centralised file storage, accessible to all staff on the company network. This facilitates the sharing of applications or documents. The files appear transparently to the clients as if they were local. Such hard disks on the DCSERVER may be duplicated for redundancy purposes in a scheme known as RAID.

The DCSERVER can operate as a Mail server that can manage all the Email needs of a typical office. This solution is very flexible, potentially permitting thousands of Email accounts to be created and removed at the client's discretion.

The DCSERVER offers Email attachment quarantining and virus crippling as standard. This simple attachment blocking has prevented email viruses from infecting DCSERVER users far more effectively than any PC based anti virus solution.

Attaching a printer and/or fax to the DCSERVER permits the server to act as a fax/ printer-sharing server.

By dialling into the DCSERVER from outside, staff can avoid additional ISP charges and work through the same company gateway. Staff can work remotely accessing files and sending/reading Email. (Requires additional internal modem in DCSERVER)
Additionally, the DCSERVER can be accessed via the Internet for file retrievable and sending/reading Emails through a Microsoft VPN.

Multiple DCSERVERs can be combined into a secure compressed Virtual Private Network (VPN) between offices. Some existing clients run DCSERVERs from home linked together to form a virtual office network. Note VPN configurations require additional configuration from DCNUT support.
